A Korean day spa that replicates traditional Korean bath houses, is a definite experience to be had by avid spa-goers. The Healing Chambers are a unique way to unwind and become rejuvenated by detoxifying the body. The Wet Spa, which includes whirlpool baths at different temperatures, all of which you enjoy in the nude is a very relaxing environment for those unabashed by theirs and others bodies. Every first time goer must try the acclaimed tradition of the Korean Body Scrub.  For centuries, Korean women have been partaking in the tradition of exfoliating the body with scrub mitts that rid of dead skin and smooth the skin like no other. When you first arrive you will check in at the front desk and receive spa wear and wristbands that include your individual locker key.  Admission to the spa for the general use of the facilities should be around a cost of $25.  This includes access to different healing chambers, a swimming pool, fitness area, the wet spa, sleep rooms, and locker room. Additional services are available for an added cost such as the famous Korean body scrub and a multitude of other massages.

The day I experienced JeJu Spa, my friend and I partook in the facilities and the body scrub. It was an experience like no other and I am already planning my next trip back.  There is so much to do at Jeju that I imagine you can have a unique experience each time you visit.  When we were initially given a tour of the facilities we realized that this was no ordinary relaxation experience. The first thing to be noticed were the nude bodies everywhere! This initially made me apprehensive but I and my friend were quickly able to adapt to the culture as seemingly everyone else had. Nudity was only allowed in the locker rooms where the wet spa was available, therefore, men and women nudity areas were separated.

The second unique aspect of this spa are the Healing Chambers available to relax in and detoxify.  These chambers resemble decorative igloos made of rocks and other materials such as jade, charcoal and precious minerals. The variety of chambers include: The Jewel Room, The Crystal Rock-Salt Room, The Gold & Silver Sauna, The Rock Ice Room, The Charcoal Room and The Baked-Clay Room. Each room has a unique feel and temperature. Some rooms are cool, others are warm and some are down right hot.  They help you to sweat out the impurities and toxins in your body. You can stretch, meditate or sleep in any of these spaces.  If you feel the need to eat or sleep while visiting this 24 hour oasis there is a food court and sleep rooms available.

Finally this spa offers an array of services from body scrubs and aromatherapy massages to reflexology and accupressure.  This spa will get you to a relaxed state of mind and body by the time you are through.  Simply go into the experience with an open mind and no timidity and you will have a great cultural experience like no other.  I know I am going back again and I have a whole different experience planned out.  The price for the experience is  a great deal for the money.  The JeJu Spa is a ways from the city of Atlanta and a traditional spa experience for that matter but definitely worth the trip!
